Architect, urbanist
I'am a French architect with a PhD in urbanism and planning (Université Paris Ouest Nanterre la Défense, 2015) and senior lecturer at University of Reunion Island. I am researcher at PIMENT (EA4518) and associate researcher at CRH – LAVUE UMR CNRS 7218 (Paris), both organizations engaged in multidisciplinary research on matters involving territories, cities, energy and housing.
My work focuses on the relationship between design and execution, as well as on that involving a city's various development stakeholders.
I graduated as an architect in 2005 from the architecture school of Lyon. I studied for one year at the Tecknishe Universität Berlin (2003), Germany and did my final internship in Barcelona, Spain, (landscape architecture and urban planning, Bellmunt i Andreu Arquitectes i associats, 2004). I then started practising in urban and architectural project management in Lyon (Bruno Godefroy architect, 2005-2007) and Brussels (Art & Build, 2007-2010), as a result building a real operational and multilingual experience in Europe.
After this first experience, I then decided to pursue a PhD in urban planning within the contractual framework of a « CIFRE » (Industrial agreements for training through research) with the Urban Development Agency of Lyon and the SERL, this city's historical urban planner and developer. While writing my thesis, I led various seminars involving the two main areas of my work: building sites within urban projects and self-observed research in the private domain.
Between 2010 and 2017, I teached at various national architecture schools (Lyon - 2 years full time, Saint-Etienne, Paris), mainly in research methodology courses, as well as in architectural and urban project workshops.
From 2015 to 2017, in Saint-Etienne, I have been involved in urban renewal projects and the activation of public spaces through two associations. I have also launched a people's university with one of these associations (Uni Pop Roc, Université populaire du Crêt de Roch).
Since 2017, I'm living in Reunion Island where I work at Reunion University.
Currently, I am working on the following:
- with Bianca Botea and Laetitia Mongeard, sociologist and geographer, about a multidisciplinary point of view in the same field: what are researchers looking for when they choose a field to study? What do they find and how do they modify the field? In La Duchère, Lyon, more than twenty researchers belonging to ten different disciplines have been leading isolated research projects since 1980. Connecting everyone should allow for sharing knowledge and experience about a same place, project and stakeholders.
Project completed: with Stephane Tonnelat, social science researcher, Stefan Shankland, artist, Gilles Montmory, urbanist and Silvana Segapeli, architecture researcher, on the work of an artist in a construction site in Ivry sur seine: Trans305 (2012, Vers une politique culturelle du chantier : le plasticien comme acteur du projet urbain durable ? Analyse critique et participative d'une expérience innovante à Ivry-sur Seine : la Haute Qualité Artistique et Culturelle (HQAC), Rapport de recherche PIRVE CNRS MEEDDM)
